3,000 Deaths a Day as World Cup Parties on in South Africa

Every day of the World Cup some 3,000 people die of AIDS in South Africa, over 60,000 and counting. As the world is partying, in the communities surrounding brand new stadiums, a wave of sickness and death has literally decimated South Africa. All by an entirely preventable disease, HIV/AIDS.  Don't expect to hear about this in the western media, which is proclaiming far and wide the success of “democracy” in South Africa.

AIDS kills over a million people a year in South Africa, some three thousand people a day. Along with lack of basic human rights such as clean drinking water, adequate food and shelter, millions of South Africans are well on their way to an early grave. Life expectancy in South Africa since “liberation” and the end of Apartheid in 1991 has plunged from 62 to 48 years.

Yet nearly a dozen first class stadiums were built in a couple of years while millions live in slums without drinking water, plagued by one of the highest murder rates in the world.

Millions live without electricity, with millions more suffering from rolling power cuts, all the while the white owned mining companies, so reviled by the Anti-Apartheid movement, benefit from the cheapest electricity in the world.

So when you watch a World Cup match, remember that thousands of preventable deaths happened that very day in the slums and townships spread across South Africa while the western media showcases their version of “African Democracy”. If this is happening in South Africa, Africa’s most developed country, one can only shudder to think what is planned for Africa by the Mafioso's that gathered at the G-20 and G-8 summit in Toronto, Canada.
