Gambia's Government rejection of Alassane Ouattara as presidentGambia's Government rejection of Alassane Ouattara as president

The events in Ivory Coast have vindicated us on our earlier assertion that Western neo-colonialist sponsored agents in Africa that owe allegiance only to themselves and their Western masters are ready to walk on thousands of dead bodies to the Presidency. This is what is happening in Ivory Coast.

Africans should not only wake up, but should stand up to the new attempts to re-colonise Africa through so called elections that are organized just to fool the people, since the true verdict of the people would not be respected if it does not go in favour of the Western backed candidates, as has happened in Cote D'Ivoire and elsewhere in Africa.

Bombing Libya; 1986-2011

Bombing Libya; 1986-2011

In 1987 I was a member of the 1st US Peace Delegation to Libya. We went there to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the US bombing of Libya in 1986. In April 1986 US warplanes struck Tripoli at 2 am. They bombed the Gaddafi family residence, wounding several of his family members and killing his 15 month old daughter. My daughter was about the same age at the time and I really, really felt it.

The US planes also bombed a civilian apartment complex, miles from any military targets, killing dozens of children as they slept. I helped place flowers on the graves of these children in the Martyrs Cemetery located in the middle of the old Italian race track in Tripoli.

Global Food Security and Sovereignty Threatened by Corporate and Government “Land Grabs” in Poor CountriesGlobal Food Security and Sovereignty Threatened by Corporate and Government “Land Grabs” in Poor Countries

Since the food crisis of 2008, food justice activists have warned that governments, in concert with multinational corporations, have accelerated a worldwide “land grab” to buy up vast swaths of arable land in poor countries. According to The Economist magazine, between 37 to 49 million acres of farmland were put up for sale in deals involving foreign nationals between 2006 and mid-2009. The purchases are often made in the name of development, but critics see a new means to deprive local populations, especially in Africa and Asia, of their land and their chance at food sovereignty.

The phenomenon is a failed agricultural system. It’s totally upside down and backwards. And instead of fixing it, they are now sending it overseas, creating these large-scale corporate plantations, all in the name of development and improving food security in poor countries. But instead they are exporting a failed model, and that is causing great threats to food security internationally.

Teaghes Kiflezghi ZimamUnhappy Africa After 50 Years Of Independence

Why Poverty In Africa Has Become An Elephant In The Room? Part I

By Teaghes Kiflezghi Zimam

In Berlin 1884, exactly 126 years ago Europeans made historical mistakes in sketching “Scramble for Africa –in which they divided the then virgin Africa like a sweet- cake in the way they wanted it. Artificial boundaries were formed; African resources were plundered from Africa to feed European industries.

In spite of the European dirty wars of competition and conflict of interests, they became so united in the case of “Africa Partition Project”. However, after many years of exploitation, many Europeans handed over independence for many African countries with a silver-plate. Thus, historians assume 1960 as the beginning of Africa’s decolonization period from barbaric European colonial yoke. That however doesn’t sound inclusive of all countries for many were betrayed and went for liberation struggles to quest independence through blood and flesh.

Modern imperialism on the resource-rich continent will be less benign than old colonialism

Matthew Parris

Article Source: Times Online

Fifty years ago the decolonisation of Africa began. The next half-century may see the continent recolonised. But the new imperialism will be less benign. Great powers aren't interested in administering wild places any more, still less in settling them: just raping them. Black gangster governments sponsored by self-interested Asian or Western powers could become the central story in 21st-century African history.
