Eritrea is indeed Africa's Best Kept Secrets, and the Cradle of Humanity

Saturday 14^th August 2010, 5th Central and Eastern Confederation of African Football Association (CECAFA) Cup under the age of 20 was officially opened in Asmara Stadium the capital of Eritrea under the theme: “Friendship and Development Cup”.

The event was broadcasted Live from Asmara, Eritrea on ERI.TV. Also streamed Live on the internet, accompanied by Live status updates via Twitter and Facebook.

The opening ceremony displayed a spectacular show with authentic, deep African cultural relevance which included a list of dedicated songs for the tournament one of which was titled "Shikamo Africa" translated as "Peace to Africa". Speaking to Eritreacompass Mr Jonathan Okbamichael who followed the event described it as "Graceful, Surprising and Moving ceremony, with effective Choriography", he also added that it was "Quirky and touching sound that lifts the soul and reminds Eritrea's journey".

The show was the best of Eritrea, an evidence of Eritrea’s organizational ability and self-reliance. Nine countries have participated in the championship, which started with a high tempo game between Eritrea and Tanzania.

Eritrea showed mature intelligent defensive skills and came out victorious by beating Tanzania 1-0. Eritrea was not only victorious on the football pitch but also in the general organizational skills that was witnessed on live TV and via the Internet. The colorful opening ceremony represented peace, harmony, stability, and self determination and it was a message to the world that regional cooperation is a way forward to everlasting prosperity.

The tournament will carry on for the next few weeks and without a doubt the participating teams along side their fans will have the opportunity to enjoy the stable and peaceful Eritrea and its diversity.
