Huge Ethio-Eritrean Rally in London – Africa Unite #NoMore

On a cold grey Sunday afternoon in London thousands of Eritreans, Ethiopians and friends of Africa poured into Parliament Square in the heart of London and where the seat of the British Government is — to raise their voices in unison and say, “No More!”, to the unwarranted interference of the US, UK and the west in their affairs.

Westminster Abbey, an abbey built a thousand years ago during the first Crusade, in its long history has witnessed many struggles and today in its shadows a titanic battle for freedom from the shackles of the West by Africans was unfolding.

For years Eritrea had been the lonely voice in the wilderness calling for fellow Africans to rid themselves from the addiction of Western aid which only served to undermine the sovereignty of African nations and keep them in perpetual bondage to the West.

With the coming to power of Dr Abiy Ahmed in Ethiopia, Eritrea found a willing partner who shared its long-standing belief of Africans needing to be self-sufficient and provide for themselves.

The Americans and the British in a bid to derail this African initiative had unleashed their dogs of war on Ethiopia. Their concerted effort — through threats of sanctions, negative media campaign, threat of military intervention — to bring Ethiopia to heel has sparked a continent-wide outrage and has so far only served to awaken Africa — the sleeping giant.

But today, the lone voice of Eritreans was joined by the voice of Ethiopians across the Globe, who are experiencing first-hand the underhanded measures to bring their country to its knees.

If the British government and the members of the British Parliament had any doubts about the resolve of Eritreans and Ethiopians in standing behind their respective governments in the face of the onslaught of the US and UK, then today’s huge peaceful demonstration at the front door of the British Parliament will send a strong message to those who think that they can impose their will on African nations.

With their message delivered to the British establishment, the thousands of demonstrators made their way to the American Embassy in Nine Elms Vauxhall.

As the demonstrators on foot, cars, motorbikes adorned by flags and cycles flowed alongside the River Thames on their way to the American Embassy, they inundated Vauxhall Cross — where South meets North — closing off Vauxhall Bridge, one of the busiest crossings across the river and bringing a major junction to a complete halt.

The message that the demonstrators carried was simple: it said NO MORE to the interference of the US, UK and other western governments; NO MORE to the lies of the western media in a bid to vilify Eritrea and Ethiopia; NO MORE to sanctions and the threat of sanctions.

Today, 21st November 2021, will go down in history as the day that the Horn of Africa came together and said NO MORE.
