Butterfly Wedi Tikabo’s song in New York

And here we go again…, Wedi Tikabo’s song came alive in New York during the Presidential gathering as it did in Asmara Stadium in May 24, 2011 independence day. The song Tsim-b-la-lie (Butterfly) by Yohannes Tikabo, due to its strong lyrical and musical appeal shined in Manhattan center New York City. Even though I was not personally there, the experience seemed fun, joyful, exciting and felt the love of my people in one place for one purpose. As H.E. President Isaias Afwerki and delegates entered the Manhattan Center they were received with standing ovation and cheerful roar a show of pleasure and satisfaction. The President gathering must have been gratifying and satisfying for the leaders and participants as they cheered the moment-away accompanied by great songs that included Butterfly.

The 20th Independence Anniversary Musical Extravaganza in Eritrea

Eritrea, the youngest African Nation achieved Independence 20 years ago in 1991, after a bitter 30-year long armed struggle. Eritrea fought and won the liberation struggle without any external help. Eritrea’s population of nine ethnic groups divided equally between the two religions of Christianity and Islam live in exemplary harmony and respect. Eritrea’s mountainous landscape and its modern art deco capital are a tourist’s delight.

Eritrea’s refurbished railroad system has attractive visitors from all over the world. Culture and arts feature prominently in everyday Eritrean life and there are several theaters in the country. The national festival held in the summer at the Expo grounds in Asmara is attended by thousands every year. The people of Eritrea are known for self reliance, hard work, hospitality and magnanimity. Visitors feel at home in Eritrea!
