ASMARA GEOCONGRESS 2010

22-27 September - Asmara, Eritrea

Eritrea hosts a variety of mineral deposits including Orogenic Gold and VHMS deposits in Neoproterozoic terranes of the Arabian-Nubian Shield, together with much younger Potash deposits and Epithermal Gold potential associated with the opening of the Red Sea. The first major modern mine (Bisha Au-Cu-Zn VHMS deposit) is scheduled to come into production in late 2010 and there are a number of other advanced projects including the Koka Orogenic Au Deposit (Chalice Gold Mines Limited) and the Hambok & Asmara VHMS deposits (Sanu Resources & Sunridge Gold Corporation respectively).

EMEC, in conjunction with the Eritrean Ministry of Energy and Mines, and including the Geological Survey, will be hosting the Asmara GeoCongress 2010 in Eritrea between the 22nd and 27th September 2010. This will include:

A day and a half of technical presentations (Eritrea and the Arabian-Nubian Shield), plus corporate booth space
GeoCongress Dinner in Asmara
A day and a half of property visits
Three day excursion to Massawa (including the historic train journey) and the Red Sea Dahlak Islands

The dates have been selected to tie in with incoming-outgoing flights and enable delegates from outside the region to participate in all or part of the proceedings. Participation in the Technical Sessions, Property Visits, Dinner and Excursion are optional and will be charged separately.

The official GeoCongress website (www.emeceritrea.com) is operational and includes full details of the proposed events, including dates, deadlines and costs.
